our mission

"To reduce juvenile recidivism among young males charged as adults, while increasing and expanding the opportunities for young males leaving the Baltimore City Detention Center (BCDC) and returning to the community. HIH will achieve this mission through the creation of un-paid field placements for graduate students in the fields of social work and psychology, which will provide young males at BCDC with direct case management and mental health services the moment they enter BCDC. In addition to one on one counseling sessions with the graduate students, the young males in BCDC will receive weekly life skills seminars and groups therapy sessions with various aftercare providers and adults from the community that care about their well being."
